1. Gently Exfoliate and increase Cell Turnover. Superficial exfoliating treatments will gently remove surface build up and lead to a smoother appearance. Professional treatments recommended for age control include alpha and beta hydroxy acids, fruit enzymes, retinoids, skin -firming polysaccharides, and hydrating and plumping phytohormones. Vitamin A derivatives (retinoids) help to increase cell turnover, bringing healthy cells to the surface more quickly. Retinol is a more gentle vitamin A derivative is less irritating. Superficial chemical peels will also help increase cell turnover and reveal a more youthful appearance. 2. Increase Matrix Proteins. Topical application of alpha hydroxy acids, peptides, botanicals and vitamins trigger collagen production and decreasing fine lines. Daily using products that contain peptides with intensive hydration will naturally plump skin and reducing the signs of aging. 3. Inhibit Melanogenesis. Many melanogenesis inhibitors have been shown to fade current discolorations. Ingredients are such as retinol, L-ascorbic acid, lactic acids, kojic acid, azelaic acid, arbutin, phytic acid, licorice extract, lilac stem cell, niacinamide inhibit melanogenesis, brighten skin tone, stave off any future discoloration and provide anti-aging benefits. 4. Increase Hydration. Topical products such as hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA, phospholipids, sphingolipids, urea, glycerin, lactic acid, lecithin, ceramides, retinoids designed to increase hydration. Over-use of AHA with small molecular size as glycolic acid should be avoided in the treatment of aging skin, as they penetrate too quickly and cause excessive redness and inflammation. A better choice is lactic acid or citric acid.
